Story Writing

An introductory story writing course for high school students taught by Mrs. Melissa Sweeney, MA, this course is appropriate for students grades 10-12. Previous writing experience required. Students need to submit a story written with structure and style (from a previous writing course) for instructor approval before registering for this course. This 15-week, one-semester course will meet once per week for approximately an hour. Mrs. Sweeney will guide students through the process of story writing including character, plot, dialoque and style, assigning homework to be done during the rest of the student's school week. Students will submit their work for feedback and an optional grade. By the end of this course, your student will have written a 10-15 page short story.
 
Meeting day and time TBD. First registered family will get to choose based on instructor availability.
 
Our virtual classroom is hosted by Canvas. The name and email you provide at checkout will be used to create your student’s Canvas profile. You will access the live class each week either by the email invitation or by logging in and clicking on “Conferences” then selecting the new conference, which should be available by about 10 minutes before class time. Classes will be recorded and the recording can be accessed in “Conferences” in the afternoon on class day and will be available for one week.
 
Families with multiple students will receive a 50% discount on tuition for subsequent registered siblings. Also, a referral credit of $40 will be awarded to any family who refers another registered student/family.
